Arriving in lloret in the early 80's I got told the best pension was a place called Picasso's........I walked up the long hill and this man with half hair 1 eye welcomed me into his abode for 2,500 pts a week.. I thought smashing that sounds super....what a mistake that was.. I got the room via the cock a doo ....lovely alarm call after a night on the sauce... then i went to shower>.*freezing*...so toiling with my shampoo that stuck to my skull I ventured down to eat....ARRGGGHHH.....1 EYE WAS COOKING...i tried to run but he captured me.....Being Polite I said im not hungry...but ARTHUR insisted...im sure there was date rape pills in the food...my rusty hurt for days.....never stayed there toooo long...but most workers did at 1 time or another.. Experience for all!..WELCOME TO LLORET...

I stayed there for a short while . And went through the same as you davey . Spooky place couldnt get out of there quick enough. . His dad was there too . But i bet the majority of workers stayed there at least one night . I also stayed at the Four Steps and that was my fave but the best place i stayed was the apartments opposite the bus station next to the casino . ..

I was there to the end of my first season. My mate Eric Gorman ended up working in the bar for a while and we just never got round to moving out. There were some goings on in that pension all right. I remember there had been some guys living there and had been eating in thier room. When they moved out they left their room full of magots...YUK. Whats there now I wonder? And wheres big Arthur and Wendy (following Cliff Ritchard around the world no doubt?) Who remembers Mandy and Hidi from Milton keynes, Buggy and Smoke from Herriford or Daz from London? They were in Picassos 84 I think.
Didn't Arthur offer you a job in Picasso's Davy? I think he had his EYE on you!

;D Thats true Frank.. Heidi and Mandy did work on the Beach parties as Childminders . And it was the original Beach Party . Staff Members were hand picked for good looks and Modelled on Baywatch . hence I got a job . But It got out of hand when you wanted to bring your surfboard on the coach . ;D.. I heard davey from sweeneys applied but got rejected But I must admit Sonja was a little cracker the South African Barmaid in Sweeneys . if you go to rickys site a pic of Heidi and Mandy on there in the Beach Boys with Andy and Crew / Max / kaznoodle@aol.com

I stayed in picassos for a month in '91. Had some great laughs, does anyone remember "pete's pantry"?. Pete was a plump geordie in his late 40's, used to be the cook/barman/waiter/nightwatchman. When you came back from work late at night, pete would have to let you in. He had a fridge full of pies/pastiesetc which he would warm up in his microwave and sell at grossly inflated prices to the hungry.
There was a load of letters on the wall of the bar I I T Y W Y B M A D......................everyone who saw it asked "what does that stand for" to which pete would reply, If I Tell You, Will You Buy Me A Drink? Most didnt realise thats what it stood for and agreed to buy him a drink.
I'd moved out towards the end of the season to one of the flats above the seven seas pub(With the ant hill mob!) but i still used to go back for a quiet drink and a game of pool.
I was in there one evening with an old girlfriend getting drunk and taking the mickey out of pete when we got chatting to some germans slumped at the bar. Turns out they were "queens" from the german navy, there at the invite of arthur (enough said). The bar was closing and the germans were dead drunk and sleeping on the bar stools, arthur couldnt wake them so i piped up at the top of my voice " ACHTUNG , SPITFIRE!!" to which the guy jumped out of his skin and started ranting in german. I had to leg it , girlfriend in tow.
Went back the next day for an early morning coffee. Pete said it was the funniest thing he'd seen all year
good times indeed!

I stayed at Picassos when I worked at the El Rancho in 77 with Colin McVey,Tony,Wee Jeff and Linda McMillan! One heavy night I finished work then went round to the Buccaneer to finish the job off! The next bit is a trifle blurred! I must have felt hungry at some point cos I woke up the next morning with a tingling sensation all over my body! I opened my eyes to see half a chicken and bread resting on my naked chest and millions of ants crawling over me to get to their dinner! At first I thought I was dreaming or had the DT`s or something! Then reality kicked in and I jumped out my bed which was black with insects and ran to the shower where I stayed under the water for ages trying to get them all off! It almost stopped me drinking -well not really-but I still don`t like ants!
